What's New With ALIVE!

You Did It! Thank You!

Operation Isaiah
Our members donated an astonishing 2,000 pounds—1 ton—of food for our neighbors in need through our Operation Isaiah Kol Nidre Food Drive. The Tuesday night Religious School crew, our third through fifth graders, sorted and packed the food, all 2,000 pounds of it, for pickup by ALIVE! to distribute through its neighborhood distribution locations, brick and mortar stores, and to community food banks. ALIVE! provides food to 20,000 families a month.

StepALIVE! Walkathon
ALIVE! surpassed its goal. ALIVE! asked the community to step up and register and/or donate $70,000 to carry on its important work of addressing food and housing insecurity in Alexandria. You helped stride well past that benchmark for event totals of $88,000 raised by 450 Walkathon participants. Agudas Achim did not win awards this year, but many thanks to the congregation as a whole as an event sponsor and to the individuals who contributed. Together we added nearly $1,500 to the event’s success as of this week. Several donors mailed contributions and these have yet to be tallied. This is ALIVE!’s largest one-day fundraising event.

Heartfelt thanks and yasher koach to everyone who participated in either or both events or who sent a monetary contribution directly to ALIVE!

For all that good, hunger remains an ongoing problem. You can always drop off nonperishable items in the synagogue coatroom bins for delivery to ALIVE!
