ENGAGING, ENRICHING, AND EMPOWERING JEWISH WOMEN
Shalom Women and Feminine-of-Center Congregants of Agudas Achim and Welcome!
Agudas Achim Sisterhood is dedicated to bringing the women of our congregation together socially and spiritually as a community within a community. We are excited to begin a new year of Sisterhood with a variety of enjoyable and fulfilling activities and hope that you will be joining us on the next chapter in our journey.
Sisterhood presents a wide variety of programs to enrich our hearts and our minds and build friendships. Your membership helps sustain our programs and support our larger community through events such as Sisterhood Shabbat, Purim Carnival, brunches, social events, support for local seniors, hikes, theater trips, Carpenter’s Shelter Christmas Dinner, and much more. We actively support the synagogue’s Religious School and b’nai mitzvah students as well as engage in Jewish learning ourselves. We also operate the Agudas Achim Judaica Shop showcasing beautiful Judaica and ritual objects and provide a meal of consolation for families in mourning. We are affiliated with the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism and support the Jewish Theological Seminary through the Torah Fund.
Membership is open to any women and feminine-of-center persons associated with Agudas Achim – no matter your age or your connection to the synagogue.
Our Sisterhood is growing and changing. If you haven’t joined us in a while, come to our next event to check us out! We can’t wait to see you! You can join our online conversation on Facebook, “Agudas Achim Sisterhood of VA," or by subscribing to our newsletter www.tinyletter.com/AgudasSisterhood

Alexandria Carpenter’s Shelter Holiday Meal
Sisterhood appreciates prior congregation member monetary donations provided in previous years to support the Alexandria Carpenter’s Shelter holiday meal and clients’ needs in the upcoming year. We invite our members to again submit monetary donations to support this worthy organization through January 31st, 2025. After speaking with Shelter Staff, funding to be provided in December will be used to support their identified “Cards for Compassion” adult residence gift program and the remaining funds will be donated, as in past years, for the Shelter Staff to use as needed to support Shelter clients during 2025. Please email Lisa Bregman at
lisa.bregman@verizon.net identifying the amount of the donation and planned method of submission, i.e., through Shulcloud, or check to be mailed or dropped off at the Synagogue, identifying “Agudas Achim Sisterhood, Carpenter’s Shelter Support” in the memo line. If anyone prefers to donate Target gift cards, the Shelter’s preferred gift card, they are also welcome and should be mailed to the Shul or hand carried and put in the Sisterhood mailbox, with the envelope marked for “Agudas Achim Sisterhood, Carpenter’s Shelter Support”. Sisterhood will send remaining funds and gift cards received through January 3,t 2025 to the shelter in early February.
